Friday Freebie: Read Great Books Online for Free

When I have offered Freebies the last few times it has been all about learning. First I pointed you toward Dell and its free online courses and then I pointed you toward Academic Earth and some of the best minds from top American universities.

Today I wanted to share one of the ways that I learn best, and that is reading. I love to read. Yes truly there is nothing like the feel of a good book in my hand. I love to be taken away in novels. I love to go back in time with books that remind me of the great history we have. I love to grab a cook cookbook and try a new recipe. Do you get the picture? I love to read. Recently with the harshness of this past Canadian winter I began to read more online. Today my freebie is where to read and even some download-able books for free for your pda, or online reader. There are many sites that offer this ability and well I am just sharing my top 10.

1. Scribed was the first site found awhile back when I was looking to read a certain book. Here you can find a mix of books and documents with new content on a regular basis.

2. Ufindbook has over 200,ooo titles in a variety formats including pdf, html. and chm. You will find many ebooks here

3. Planet eBook has the best collection of classical liteature.

4. Get Free Books is another source for downloading with a variety of titles.

5. Many Books has a very cool reviews section.

6. Project Gutenberg is probably one of the oldest online resources for reading material, and has over 28,000 free books available for download.

7. Bored.com Are you bored? Go here for some great reads.

8. International Children’s Library shares a wonderful collection of childrens books. If you have a child, you want to visit this site.

9. Bibliomania has a great collection of short stories, poems, play and ebooks.

10. Daily Lit While have a large number of books you can read what I liked best here were the group reads, and the encouraging of even reading short snipets.

Hope this list helps you with your reading.

Party Finds and Friday Freebie

Wow this has been a busy week I have visited many blogs through the Ultimate Blog Party and it was great to see so many different blogs and meet so many blogger virtual style! My feet are tired as I visited blogs from all over the world. One minute I could be here in Nova Scotia and the next well I could be in Germany, Australia, Dubai, California, Alaska you get the picture. It was a whirlwind trip around the blogger world.

I found some great blogs and wanted to post about 5 that I found on the journey and they are each from a different local.

There is RML in Germany who writes about having more through having less. I love her decluttering attitude.

In Robin at Pensieve I found a Tennessee mom who is a hoot! I love her blog, and for me it just made me smile!

Jamie at Saving in Style is another frugal mom like me who lives south of the border and is a real Southern Belle.

Then is Jessica at Pudget who like me is a mom on a budget who is trying to lose weight and she is having some good results and posting about it for all to see.

The farest away I got was Grace’s blog from Dubai. Her blog, Sandier Pastures really makes me want to visit the Middle East more and more. I loved her post about watching out for camels!

So these are just a few of the new friends I found on the party path. Did you who participated find any that you will return to on a regular basis??

I know I did!

Now it is Friday so it is time for the Friday Freebie. You know one of the things I love to do is learn. Go and register and learn for free and brush up on some skills that may help you out along the road.

Friday Freebie: E-Sword

One of the very first freebies I ever downloaded was bible software. For me I found it very useful as I look at the bible. E-sword is a great free interactive download that lets you study the bible from your desktop or even your palm. So go and get your free download. If you can support the site you can always leave a donation.

One of my girlfriends owns her own production company and she was the first to share this wonderful free resource with me! So why not go watch something online that will make you laugh today for free. Now if you are not Canadian, welcome to some of the best that is Canadian.

Planning for the Future

I have been thinking alot lately about the future I want and dream about for my daughter and I. I have decided that as she enters junior high and high school I don’t want her here in the city. It is very expensive to live here especially doing it on $1200 a month.  So where do we go, I am investigating several possibilities.

While doing this I am trying to also make sure I am prepared for whatever the future might hold. I am doing my will, and learning all I can about fiances here in Canada. There is FREE help out there for us Cannucks. The Canadian Financial Security Program offers free downloadable books that can help us achieve our goals whatever they are. There is the Will Preparation Kit, Shopping for Life Insurance, Starting a Home Business and Investing Wisely. Why not take a read? For us cheapies out there knowledge equals power and the ability to do more while being prepared.
