Roma Boots are #GivingPovertytheBoot

Here in Toronto, April rains have been happening with a frequency that made me want to don my rain jacket and new Roma rain boots and head outdoors to do some puddle jumping.  It’s so much fun to be a kid again and jump in those puddles. It makes it seem that all is right with the word because we know those April showers will bring May flowers.  The other great thing is knowing your purchase of a pair of Roma rain boots ensures a child in need has a pair of rain boots as well. Both my teen and I just received Roma boots.

Both my teen and I just received Roma boots. My teen loves the tall lace up boots while I am loving the shorter black boots.

Supporting Roma boots simply makes sense right now. Roma or Amor spelled backward, was started back in 2010 by Romanian Samuel Bistrain. The first to receive the boots were Roma Gypsies who are a poor marginalized group. These days over 50,000 pairs of boots have reach over 25 countries across the world.

Roma boots also donate 10% of its sales back to the ROMA Foundation who uses the funds to build learning centers. They want to help and educate. Besides the learning centers, they want to give one million pairs of rain boots away by the year 2020.

Just recently, Roma Boots launched in Canada and have partnered with World Vision to let us know how we can help #givePovertytheboot

Giving Made Easier for Canadians with ChangeIt and BMO

Every year, at this time of year, we all look for ways to give back. There is even #GivingTuesday on Dec 2nd because after all the spending of Black Friday we also look for ways to give back. This month,  the Bank of Montreal announced it is making it simple for Canadians to give back and make a difference using ChangeIt.

spare change

ChangeIt is an like a spare change jar for your BMO Mastercard. By using an online portal you can choose it BMO customers can choose to round up their cashless transactions, with that spare change being given to charities you choose. Think of it like going to your local favorite coffee spot and throwing the change in a charity collection jar. We have all done that right? I know I have.

This time of the year, we all get hit with so many charitable requests, this way BMO Mastercard customers can give to up to 5 different charities with their spare change on a regular basis. Think those small amounts of change, they add up and can and will make a big difference to charities across Canada.  For charities it is a great way to raise funds as well because it is efficient and it makes sense.

changeit

So how does it work. ChangeIt is easy to use.

t all starts with your spare change.

1. Login at ChangeIt and register your card.

2. Choose one or more charities.

3. Set your monthly limit. Yes, you can set a limit to how much you give each month..

One of the best things about this you make the difference giving and you get a tax receipt that is something your spare change rarely does these days, epecially when tossed into a spare change jar. Another thing about ChangeIt, it carries on all year around and allows you to give back all year not just during the busy holiday season. For me I carry a BMO Mastercard, and will be glad to toss my spare change into make a difference.
