It’s a Hallmark Christmas and a #Giveaway

It is that time of the year that we are all busy getting ready for Christmas. The decor gets pulled out, the house gets decorated, hot chocolate is sipped, and our favourite Hallmark movies get watched. We are definitely a Hallmark house. From our decor (thanks to the team at Hallmark Canada) to what’s on tv you would think you have entered a Hallmark home at our place.

As a teen I started collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments. We have always been a Hallmark family, even my grandparent’s tree had Hallmark ornaments. I am so glad to keep this tradition alive.  I have been blessed to work with Hallmark Canada over the past few years and they have sent a box this year that was filled with beautiful decor items, cards, gift bags, gift items and of course a few ornaments.

I went through the box while watching a Hallmark Christmas movie and  the W Network. Did you know they have been showing many a Hallmark movie this month.  Since I have been in recovery mode after a fall late last month I have had the time to snuggle on the sofa and watch some of my favourites. Have you been watching?

The box itself was filled to the brim with a great selection of items and I wanted to share a few of my favourites.

There is the 2017 Dated Frame, which I thought would be a perfect gift for grandparents. I love giving the gift of photos.

There was lots in the box for the wine lover. When I saw the Mover and Shaker Martini glass, I thought of a girl friend who is a definite mover and shaker every day. It’s available for $19.95. There are also great bottle tags and wine charms that would be a divine add on.

They also sent this beautiful copper coloured retangular metal tray, a 3×4 Pillar candle, mixed rosehips, and adorable poinsetta lights. I have combined these for a beautiful centerpiece for my coffee table.

To add to my snowman collection for this year there is the “Stockings Hung with Care” Snowman and pup. It is only $17.95 when you purchase 3 cards. It is the 14th in the snowman series. So far I have 5 from the series. Candy canes light the way in sync to the tune of Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

Two of my favourtie things in the box this year were the Mixed Media Santa and the Mixed Media Santa in a Sleigh. Both are great decor pieces that would look perfect on the mantle.

Here on my blog, one reader can win the Mixed Media Santa this holiday season.

*Giveaway is open to Canadian residents only.

**Giveaway ends December 15th at 12:00 am.

Celebrating Love this Valentine’s Day with a Giveaway! #LoveHallmarkCA

Tis the season of love. In our house, I am a single lady, and my teen is the one who has a beau. The one thing we have in common though is we love to celebrate love. There are so many ways to celebrate love. We love our sweethearts, our best friends, our classmates and even ourselves.

Here in Canada, the average Canadian adult spends more than $100 on Valentine’s Day. You may choose to budget or go all out for this special day. Last week, my friends at Hallmark Canada sent a wonderful box of goodies that are helping my teen, and I celebrate the day in style.
Hallmark Valentine's Day

One of the things, we have done this year, we kept our Christmas tree, but we changed out the ornaments. The tree is full of hearts and everything red, pink, silver, white and gold. Right now there are a few gifts under the tree all in pretty bags and wrap provided by Hallmark Canada.

Hallmark gift ideas

You can find gifts for all you love at Hallmark from a cute clutch for you BFF, to a journal for your favorite writer, to wine glasses and bottle openers for your wine expert.

For me, I love to find humor in all things, so I found this video on Youtube that I just had to share. This Valentine’s Day I am on my own, so it will be a night of wine, heart shaped pizza and most likely a night of colouring and watching a favourite show on TV. One of the ways, I celebrate all the things I love is to journal daily. I actually keep one by my bed so I can write each night.

To help you celebrate, during this month of love, I have a special giveaway from Hallmark Canada. A sweet cork journal.  I hope that no matter how you choose to celebrate, you celebrate those you love.

To win the cork journal I am giving away here on the blog, you must be a Canadian resident. Giveaway ends Feb 19th.

Valentine' Day Giveaway with Hallmark Canada

Graduation Gift Ideas from Hallmark Canada

It is that time of year in many households, it seems about a quarter of my friends have a graduate of some sorts in their house this year. My own daughter is in grade 12 but she will be done with high school next year. There are plenty of graduation ceremonies next week here locally.  Our little one next door is graduating from kindergarten and many of my friends have grade 12  graduates this year and a few had university and college graduates as well. So what do you get for the graduating class of 2016?

My daughter did not to celebrate with her friends this year. We will next. She wants to travel and we will see if that is possible before she starts college.

Now my friends at Hallmark Canada have some pretty sweet gift ideas for the graduates. Shush, but I have a few of these ready to give Rachel.

graduation gift idea

When Rachel graduated kindergarten I got her the Dr Suess book “Oh the Places You will Go”. Well, Hallmark has a whole line of Oh The Places you will go gifts that are perfect for giving to your graduate .  I love the mug, the suitcase gift card holder, the frame and the luggage tag and keychain. I also love the paperweight globe which is a great reminder the world is now hers.

Having a graduation party for your child? I love the Pop Up Card Keeper with Photo Holder and the 2016 Autograph Poster. Both are perfect keepsakes of the event.

As they say good bye to friends there is always the Autograph Owl. It even comes with its own black permanent marker.

Do you have someone graduating from kindergarten? I loved the My First Graduation frame that came from Hallmark this year. I gave one to my neighbour for her daughter.

There are also some great pictures frames as well for that older graduate.

As we get ready for graduation this weekend, there is definitely some last-minute shopping going on. What will you be picking up for your graduate?

Mother’s Day Must-Haves From Hallmark (with Giveaway) #LoveHallmarkCA

Mother's Day Must-Haves

Recently, I got to attend the “Behind the Letter” event with the folks from Hallmark Canada that not only showcased the wonderful selection of Hallmark gift suggestions but reminded me how important in today’s digital world handwritten cards still make a difference. With Mother’s Day around the corner, there are so many economical choices that can be found at Hallmark Canada stores across the country. Hallmark in keeping is keeping mom in the spotlight with beautiful products that have a touch of spring. The warm colours and heartfelt sentiments make for great gifts.

With Mother’s Day just a week away, Hallmark is reminding is us that those that mother us are no ordinary women. They are amazing women who deserve to be remembered and shown how much they mean to us. They have so many great ways to show “Mom” you care, whether it be with a beautiful card from the Signature collection to a sweet gift. Hallmark invites you to share extraordinary the moms in your life are and show their Hallmark Signature cards style by sharing your story on social media using the hashtag #NoOrdinaryCard and #SignatureStyle.

There are some great Mother’s Day must-haves. Here are a few of my favorites:

There are Mother’s Day frames that say Mom, Nana, or First Mother’s Day. In my family I can think of someone for each frame. They really are beautiful.

For the mom on the go there is the travel mug. Perfect for keeping that coffee warm on the commute to work.

The Hallmark Tea Towel Assortments have beautiful sentiments written on them. The cotton towels are also perfect for wrapping gifts in such as some baking done by the grandkids.

I fell in love with the ceramic floral teapot. It has a beautiful rose on top. Perfect for the mom like me that loves a great cup of tea. Then  for the true tea lover, there are the Be Kind tea cups and saucers.

Have a mom who is enjoying the fairy gardens we are beginning to see in abundance? They will have the Garden fairy doors and fairy figurines from the new GadenFair line. I know several who now have fairy gardens amongst the plants in their garden.

Now some good news I get to give away one of these must-have’s to a reader. Sorry, it will not make it in time for Mother’s Day but it will be a great gift to have.

Hope you love tea like me, as I am giving away one tea cup and saucer to a lucky winner. Let me know how you will be celebrating Mother’s Day in the comments and fill out the Rafflecopter.

Hallmark Easter Must Haves #loveHallmarkCA

Spring is finally here and there are signs of better days ahead. Here at our house we are busy getting ready for Easter this weekend. In our house Easter is an important celebration. We are celebrating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus! While church and contemplation are part of the long weekend there is also the visit from the Easter bunny and an Easter egg hunt.

Do you know where the tradition of the Easter bunny began and how it ties into the Easter story? The legend of the Easter Bunny bringing eggs appears to have been brought to the United States by settlers from southwestern Germany. The German tradition of the Easter Bunny or “Oschter Haws” or Easter Hare migrated to America in the 1800s, likely accompanying German immigrants, many of whom settled in Pennsylvania. Over the past 200 years, the Easter Bunny has become the most commercially recognized symbol of Easter.

In legend, the Easter Bunny, brings baskets filled with colored eggs, candy, and sometimes toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter. The Easter Bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them somewhere in the house or garden for the children to find when they wake up in the morning, giving rise to the tradition of the Easter egg hunt. In our house gifts received where a new outfit for church, a card, a chocolate bunny and easter eggs. Now days there are lots of ways to celebrate Easter.

Hallmark Canada likes to celebrate with bright colors, bunnies and great cards. A couple of weeks ago they sent me a box filled with Easter goodies to help celebrate the season.

2016-03-24 07.54.55

I loved the Spring Decor ornament tree and it is sitting on my kitchen table all decked out in ornaments. I love that the ornaments you can get at Hallmark include a cross as well as the symbols of spring and celebrations of family.

I love butterflies so when I got a beautiful embossed ceramic mug in my box I was super excited and can’t wait to have my morning tea in it, Easter morning.

2016-03-24 08.57.04

Month of Gratitude– Hallmark and Handwritten Cards

hallmark cards

At the start of this week leading to Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for especially the people who have been placed in my life. Back in August, as I was getting home from PEI, I had a parcel waiting from Hallmark Canada. It was filled with 7 cards. The challenge presented was to let the people in your life know how much you cared. Well, in the business of getting a teen ready for both high school and college the challenge got pushed to the back burner. But with Thanksgiving coming I knew I wanted to get this done because I am so very thankful for many in my life.

So yes, this week I have been writing cards and mailing them out. I even hand delivered one of the cards to my girl friend who is in the hospital.

Sometimes we can get so darn busy and we let texts, phone calls and Facebook messages fill the void but we forget how much further those little acts like a hand written card matter.  Remember the days when we actually got hand written cards and letters in the mail? I do. My favourite letters came from my grandmothers.

Two Sundays ago, the pastor at my local church even challenged those sitting listening to write actually write, not send an email to someone who matters.

So my challenge to you my readers, this weekend, don’t just leave a Facebook message or text, let those who matter to you know with a handwritten message, a card or note. Let me tell you those will always be treasured and remembered.

Spring Must Haves from Hallmark Canada & Giveaway #LoveHallmarkCA

spring must haves Hallmark CaToday I could feel it in the air as I went out for my walk, as it was a double digit day here in Toronto, spring is in the air. I was so thankful to get out for a walk without having to bundle up. With spring around the corner so is Easter and right after that we will be shopping for Mother’s Day. There really are some great spring must haves from Hallmark Canada this year.

When I think of these two holidays I am filled with joy and peace, besides Christmas they are two of my favorite times of the year. Traditionally in our family Easter is a time of renewal, of Easter egg hunts, chocolate and well my mom is known for her ham and scalloped potatoes.

Now when it comes to Mother’s Day, since my teen is now a teen, I get a bit spoiled often getting breakfast in bed, and well on that day I don’t cook or clean, and we usually go out for dinner as well. Sometimes there is even a gift, often they are hand crafted. Sometimes though there have been small gifts that mean something to her. I celebrate my mom often with a call, a card and a small gift.

Now Hallmark Canada sent us brand ambassadors a sweet selection from their must haves. They included some great Easter items that kids will love, and well they had to send a few things us moms will adore as well.

Hallmark Canada

The first thing my daughter reached for was the Flappy Happy Chick. This cute chick even sings and bops to a parody of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”.  MSRP -$32.95 or 17.95 with each purchase of 3 Hallmark Cards

The little guy in our house fell in love with the Easter Beagle Snoopy Plush. Snoopy looks adorable dressed as a bunny. MSRP $19.95

There are also a great selection of gift bags for Easter perfect for your gift wrapping needs. Find them at your local Hallmark Gold Crown Store.

Now for moms they have a great selection as well. We can’t possibly forget about mom can we?

We loved the Framed Embroidered Sentiments. They reminded me of my grandmother’s needlepoint. You can celebrate life’s moments in a bigger way with “Life is a Special Ocassion” from Hallmark. You will love the selection. MSRP $12.95
